Biography

MARTIN BARRALL. MA

Born in East London his early memories are of walks through Epping Forest with his family, thus his love of the area.

Martin sold his first painting in 1969 whilst studying his Art on an Art Foundation Course. He could often be found on a Sunday morning on the Bayswater Road London selling  his hand-made posters and paintings.

Martin then studied Art in London from 1971 to 1974 after initially working as a Graphic Designer, then became an Art teacher and Art Lecturer, ICT Art consultant before painting full time.

Martin has continued to work on and develop his style ever since the early days.  His paintings are generally on the large side, usually on canvas using acrylics, pencil, chalks and technical pens which he finds to be great mediums for his painterly style and which he combines with fine detail work in the same paintings.

For the  years (pre Covid) his work has been exhibited at the Royal Academy Piccadilly London Summer Exhibition. (Bradley at his Tea Hut in Epping Forest) hung in 2018. (now sold to the Epping Forest Museum)

Dave the Biker at Bradley's Tea Hut Epping Forest hung 2019.

Martin has painted many different subjects and themes, with many more recent paintings over the last 15 years based around Epping Forest in Essex/London, including the paintings displayed in the Royal Academy, Piccadilly, London.

He has also created works in ceramics, print making (including stone lithography), screen printing, block printing and fabric printing.
